Missions
Welcome to our missions section. The M in our MESS. Jesus was clear, "you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8 NIV) There are four levels of Missions at First Assembly of God, patterned after the statement of Jesus:
AGWM
(Assembly of God World Missions) This is our Missions Activity outside the U S through the Following:
- Monthly support of missionaries
- Demographic Giving
- Special offerings for Missionaries and specific projects
- Building and Ministry Team trips around the world
U S Missions
This is Missions outreach to the United States outside of the South Texas District of the Assemblies of God and more specifically, San Antonio, through:
- Monthly support of U S Missionaries, Chaplains, Bible Colleges and Universities, Chi Alpha university campus missionaries, Church planters and Church revitalization projects
- Disaster relief- Partnering with Convoy of Hope and Rural Compassion and responding to specific needs such as Hurricanes, floods, Tornados, etc. with funds and teams.
- Special offerings for specific U S Missionaries and project needs.
South Texas District Missions
First Assembly of God is a member of the South Texas District of the Assemblies of God. The involvement is the same as U S Missions but as it relates to the South Texas District and it's personnel, ministries and projects. In addition to the items listed under U S Missions are the following:
- Monthly financial support for the District Office and Various ministries
- Camp Grounds support
San Antonio Missions
These are our local Missions efforts:
- Local Church Planting and Extension Campuses
- Support of and Participation with Local resource ministries, ie: Our Daily Bread; CAM (Christian Assistance Ministries); Bexar County Family Justice Center Chaplain
- Teen Challenge of Texas, San Antonio Campus
- Rebuilding Together
- Chi Alpha- UTSA
- ECHO Company Military Outreach Ministry
- Prison Ministry- Domingus Unit
Women's Ministries
- Dime Projects and target giving around the world through National, District and Church sponsored projects and Missionaries
Youth- Speed The Light
(STL). Our Student Ministry, "Awaken" joins thousands of other churches raising Millions of dollars for the purchase of vehicles for missionaries around the world.
BGMC
(Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge. Our kids save coins (and dollars) in their "Buddy Barrels"
