Awaken is the youth ministry at First Assembly of God. Our goal is to come along side parents and partner with them in raising their students, whether it's the value of doing homework or challenging students to "love they neighbor as thyself". Awaken includes students Grade 6 through Grade 12. On Sundays we offer classes that will help your students grown in their daily walk with God through interactive conversations and on Wednesdays we have a service geared for your student. It's our heart that students would discover Gods plan for their lives and live it out to their friends and family. With a staff that is excited to see what this next generation can do, we hope to see you at the next service. What do we teach?
In Awaken classes your students will be challenged and encouraged to walk out what the bible teaches. We do this through games, group interaction, and teaching. Throughout the year we address topics that your students will face on a regular basis, from gossip to fear to temptation and many more. The bible is pretty clear about a lot of topics and we want to make sure our students know what God thinks about their situations.
What Do We Do For Fun?
At Awaken we want students to understand that being apart of a church is more than just coming to a service to hear about Jesus. We want them to realize that its pretty fun being apart of this community. We have events going on throughout the year. Here's just a few of the things we: amazing jump, six flags, tubing, ice skating, corn maze, gym nights, camp, all nighters, and the list goes on and on. Being a part of a youth group is about doing life together, whether it's working hard or playing hard.
What Do We Do For Missions & Community Service?
Part of the experience and community of Awaken is being involved in missions work. We encourage our students to get involved by raising money for Speed The Light. This is a program that helps to get missionaries out into other countries as well as getting them the equipment they will need. We also give students the opportunity to do hands on missions work both out of the country and locally, from doing disaster relief to street programs in third world countries.
When & Where Does Awaken Meet?
Our main youth service is Wednesday night at 7 pm in the Youth/Childrens Room in the Family Life Center (Gym). Our small group classes meet Sunday morning at 9 am and Sunday nights at 6 pm in the Family Life Center as well. Our small group classes are broken down according to age groups; 6-8th grade and 9-12th grade meet separately.
